Indoor Health

“A Healthy outside starts from a healthy inside.” With the devastating impact of Covid-19 continuing all over the world, a change in the lifestyle of people is the only way people can live and work in the corona impacted world. While it is easy to say this, it is equally hard to get and maintain this routine in your daily life. This raises varied questions in the minds of the people.

One of them ishow to maintain their health and remain active. While citizens of almost every country are struck in a series of lockdowns, India is no different. Though relaxations have been given in lockdown, people are not allowed to gather without important work, even parks and gyms till date remain closed.

Though people search for answers, the answer has always been around us since a long time-the concept of indoor health. It means working together for a healthy environment in our homes, schools and offices

The concept of “Indoor Health” refers to maintaining the health of people in our households through habits of healthy eating as well as exercises which do not require any special equipment. Such lifestyle includes basic principles which are common to all Indian circles such as waking early, meditation, yoga, eating green vegetables, etc.

As gyms are expected to be closed till late August or early September, people should focus on these age-old-exercises or even should continue to work out according to their normal routine while adapting to given conditions and substituting certain exercises with limited resources.

Indoor HealthAs businesses and offices will start work from workplace, extra caution must be taken. From maintaining healthy sanitary habits to wearing masks, each and every practice would help us this battle. Working personnel must be extra careful as one mistake from carelessness and arrogance could result in getting all the family members affected from Covid-19.

This is because, it is not that Covid -19 has an extremely high mortality rate but it is just that an extremely infectious disease has gripped us. A study has proven that even a single Covid 19 positive patient can spread and infect a few hundreds in a single day.

It must be understood that even though the world is going through this pandemic, Indoor Health remains to be a concern for the world. This is because even before Covid 19 pandemic was struck, W.H.O. had been warning about indoor health and indoor air pollution.

Indoor air pollution continues to remain ignored all over the world as no effective measure is taken either by the people or the government to stop usage of solid fuels in cooking as they are unable to provide clean fuels for cooking at effective prices. This is evident from the fact that around 3 billion people cook using polluting open fires or simply stoves fuelled by kerosene, biomass (wood, animal dung and crop waste) and coal. Also, close to half of deaths due to pneumonia among children of less than 5 years of age are caused by particulate matter (soot) inhaled from household air pollution.

Sick building syndrome presents yet another problem which has not been countered. The sick building syndrome (SBS) is used to describe a situation in which the occupants of a building experience acute health- or comfort-related effects that seem to be linked directly to the time spent in the building. This syndrome has been known since World War 1 yet the first official report was filed in 1948.

It reduces work efficiency and increases absenteeism.Even after that no specific cause has been identified for the problem and as a result no cure or solution for this problem exists. This could be a fatal problem as citizens are in lockdown for more than 2 months.

But since all these problems are related to indoor activity, they can be solved or at least their impact can be mitigated by the efforts of the concerned people. But the blame is not only on household usage. And one such problem is the introduction of 5G technology. Many scientists, doctors, organizations, & citizens from over 207 nations and territories have signed the International Appeal to stop 5G on Earth & in Space but it goes in vain as almost all the top mobile phone companies are ready to launch the 5Gin their smart phones following this mad race of competition.

If the telecommunications industry successfully launches 5G, no person, animal, bird, insect and plant on the Earth will be able to avoid exposure to levels of RF radiation that are tens to hundreds of times greater than what exists today, without any possibility of escape anywhere on the planet.

Even after all these challenges and problems, Indoor Health is still an ignored subject and not taken seriously. Despite an increase in popularity of the subject due to the current pandemic, it still is far away from the recognition of an important subject in the society we all live in.
