Dr. MSG Papa Coach’s ‘Yorker’ Technique Won the World Cup

  • Favourite Delivery in Bowling: Yorker

“Son, no matter what the match situation is, never let your self-confidence waver. With self-confidence, every battle can be conquered.”

This teaching from my Revered Guru, Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, continues to inspire me. I will never forget that crucial phase of the World Cup final, when England, batting furiously, was relentlessly chasing our mammoth target (411 runs). Although their wickets were falling at regular intervals, the run rate remained steady. I followed the advice given by my Revered Guru Ji: ‘’If the opposing team was scoring consistently, focus on bowling yorkers.’’ In the 41st over of the second innings, England’s last wicket was at the crease. As soon as I bowled the second ball as a yorker, Qaleb Faqr, who was batting on 115, was caught. India won the World Cup for the sixth time.

‘’It is only because of my Papa Coach, Revered Guru Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, that I have reached this level in cricket. His holy presence provides me with inspiration and immense encouragement, which always keeps my self-confidence high on the field. Revered Guru Ji has given me many important tips regarding batting according to the ball and playing lofted shots. He has also taught me the technique of bowling yorkers. I often follow His guidance in the game, and as a result, my performance is improving day by day.’’ – Kanishk Chauhan, all-rounder.

“For me, this victory is the result of the grace of my Papa Coach, Revered Guru Ji.” said Kanishk Chauhan, all-rounder of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup-winning Indian team.

Kanishk, who made his debut against England in 2024, was also named Best All-Rounder of the Series. He performed exceptionally in both the Asia Cup and Under-19 World Cup, where he was awarded Man of the Match twice consecutively.

Difficult Process

Cricket coach Jaskaran Singh said that Kanishk Chauhan went through several rigorous selection rounds before being chosen for India’s Under-19 World Cup team.

He explained that the Cricket Association had 34 state teams, from which 11 players were to be selected. The first camp was held in Rajkot. Similar camps were organised in six different locations across India, involving 150 players. From each location,15 players were shortlisted, after which the final 11-member team was selected.

Kanishk proved his ability by performing brilliantly in every challenging situation.

As a coach, Revered Guru Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan has taught Kanishk Chauhan many nuances of the game. Before the Asia Cup in August 2025, Kanishk Chauhan spoke with the Revered Father and received many valuable tips on bowling yorkers. He was told,”When the opposing batsmen are scoring heavily, try to bowl more yorkers. Son, this delivery will be very useful.”

This guidance proved prophetic during the World Cup final, where Kanishk used yorkers effectively to take crucial wickets while conceding minimal runs, playing a key role in India’s victory.

After returning from the World Cup, Kanishk had the opportunity to meet his Revered Guru Ji again, who reinforced earlier advice and shared additional tips, including strategies for T20 cricket.
