Vada Pav

Recipe: Vada Pav

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil,
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida,
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds,
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds,
  • 1 onion,
  • 2 tsp green chilli-ginger paste,
  • 2 potatoes,
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder,
  • 1 tsp salt,
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder,
  • salt according to taste,
  • 2 tsp coriander leaves,
  • 2 tsp lemon juice and pav

How to Make Masala Paste

  • 9 garlic cloves,
  • 5 whole red chillies,
  • 2 tsp white sesame seeds,
  • 1 cup grated coconut,
  • 1 tsp salt,
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder,
  • 1/2 tsp tamarind,
  • 1 cup gram flour,
  • 1/4 cup soda,
  • 4 green chillies,
  • roasted peanuts as per need.

How to Make Aloo Vada

Take oil in a pan, add asafoetida, mustard seeds and fennel seeds. Roast them together. Add onion and green chilli-garlic paste and fry. Now add boiled potatoes, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder and green coriander. Mix it well and add lemon juice. Roast it and make a paste.

Take a bowl and add gram flour, soda, salt and red chili powder in it. Prepare the gram flour batter by adding some water. Take the masala from the potato paste prepared earlier and make small balls. Deep fry the prepared balls after dipping them in the gram flour batter. Fry till they turn golden brown. Also fry some green chilies in a pan.

For Making Masala

Take some oil in a pan and add garlic along with whole red chillies, white sesame seeds and coconut. Mix it well and add roasted peanuts and add half teaspoon salt and red chilli powder and mix it well. Now add tamarind and make a paste by mixing all the ingredients.

Now take a pav. Put green chutney,  masala paste in it and put fried pakora in the middle. Serve the vada pav with green chilli chutney.
