KC College Hosts XII International Media Summit with Global Experts
The Department of Mass Media at Kishinchand Chellaram (KC) College successfully hosted the 12th International Media Summit on February 13 and 14. The two-day summit featured in-depth discussions on how credibility, technology, ethics, and narrative power are redefining journalism and strategic communication in an increasingly polarized media landscape.
Festival representatives told Sachi Shiksha that the summit aimed to create meaningful dialogue between students, academia, and industry professionals.

Focus on AI and Creative Thinking
RJ Jeeturaj of Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, during the session “AI – The Future Dinosaur,” encouraged students to push beyond creative boundaries and embrace innovation. He described AI not as a threat but as a tool that can enhance creativity when used wisely.
Senior journalist Dr. Sanjay Singh highlighted the growing influence of narrative drafting in media, cautioning that chaos is sometimes deliberately created to weaken news credibility. He noted that while truth moves slowly, perception — and misinformation — spreads much faster.
Strategic Communication and Reputation Management
Rahul Maheshwari, Economic Affairs Advisor at the Netherlands Consulate General, emphasized the economic relevance of media content. Strategic communication expert Dr. Ruta Vyas stressed the importance of “win-win communication” for long-term success.
Crisis communication specialist Heeta Parikh, Founder of Silver Spun Brand Solutions, noted that reputation remains a brand’s most fragile asset and that effective communication is critical during crises.
Global Perspectives and Industry Insights
International expert Dr. Nancy Snow spoke about bias, anonymity, and ethical dilemmas in journalism, while Dr. Elizabeth Lubinga highlighted communication’s role in empowering marginalized communities and promoting environmental awareness.
Cinematographer Swapna Pataskar enriched the industry session by discussing camera evolution, the rise of vertical formats, and showcasing clips from India’s first AI-generated film slated for release. Amita Balchandra, Amey Karve, and Aditi Kamat also shared industry insights.
Strong Academic Engagement
The academic track featured 13 research paper presentations covering media ethics, digital communication, and public policy. Festival representatives told Sachi Shiksha that the summit successfully blended academic rigor with industry relevance.

The summit received continued guidance from Col. Dr. Prof. Hemlata Bagla, Vice Chancellor, HSNC University. It was strongly supported by Prof. Tejasri Shanbhag (Principal) and Prof. Shalini R. Sinha (Vice Principal & HoD, Mass Media). The event was efficiently coordinated by convenors Dr. Vidhi Agarwal and Ms. Sneha Subhedar, along with the Department of Mass Media team.
