Stay Fit in the Office

Everyone likes to stay fit, whether it is in the office, at home, or in business. If you are working, then it is very important for you to stay fit mentally as well as physically. There are certain commitments in the job which have to be fulfilled on time. If you are fit, then you will complete your commitments on time which will prove beneficial for you in the office. The team leader and the boss will also be happy.

Well, it is true that there is a shortage of time while working in the office and you feel unable to keep yourself fit, especially those who are on shift duty or are working with MNC. Their working hours are a bit longer and in a private job, as long as you are ahead in work, it is fine, otherwise you do not get promotion. Still, by paying attention to some things, you can stay fit in the office.

  • Organize your work table when you go to the office in the morning. Clean your table. You will feel like working and the work will be done at a faster pace.
  • Whenever you get a tea break or lunch break, first take long deep breaths for 5 minutes. This will make you feel relaxed.
  • If you work on the upper floor, do not use the lift, instead take the stairs. Calories will be burnt.
  • Nowadays, most big offices have arrangements for indoor games like table tennis, basketball etc. When you get time, you can keep yourself refreshed by playing the game of your choice. This will also keep your weight under control.
  • If you are working on a chair or desk for a long time or have been sitting on a chair for a long time, then you should get up in between and do some stretching. Stretching your hands and legs will reduce your stress.
  • Many offices run yoga and dance classes to keep fit. You should also take advantage of such classes.  Yoga and dance will keep you mentally and physically fit.
  • Do not sit continuously on the chair. Get up after 40 minutes and take a short walk. Sometimes go to the washroom and sometimes to get water.
  • While working on the computer, blink your eyes every half an hour to reduce eye strain.
  • When you feel hungry, do not suppress your hunger by consuming tea, coffee, snacks, at that time eat only the food brought from home.
  • When you are thirsty, drink only water, do not take cold drinks. Cold drinks will give you extra calories.
  • Keep rotating your neck left and right intermittently.
  • Work keeping in mind the height level of the table and chair. If you face any inconvenience, then request to get the level corrected.
  • Carry lunch from home. If it is not possible to carry, then eat freshly prepared food from the office canteen. Stay away from deep fried food like ‘samosas’, ‘chana-bhature’, ‘pakoras’ etc. Instead of these you can eat vegetable sandwiches, upma, idli etc.
  • For evening snacks, carry dry snacks from home like roasted gram, puffed rice, roasted namkeen etc.
  • If there is ever a party in the office and you know about it in advance, then eat a fruit first.
