January Bloomed With Eternal Spiritual Power;
Blessed Was the Coming of the Divine Bestower

The Spiritual Master has a profound connection with His souls. A mother’s relationship with her child is universally recognized, yet the Spiritual Master’s relationship with His souls is far greater and can truly be understood only by those who have taken refuge in Him or whose destiny has awakened. Those fortunate souls remain lost in the spiritual love of their Spiritual Master. Every moment, they savour the sight of that beloved Spiritual Master. It becomes unbearable to remain even for a moment away from such bliss and vision.

When souls find themselves in such a state, bound by the cycle of time, they yearn deeply for their beloved Spiritual Master. Just as a child becomes restless when separated from its mother, and the mother too becomes restless for her child, so, when souls call out to their Spiritual Master, He hears their call and comes without delay. When these yearning souls receive the news of the arrival of their beloved Spiritual Master, they are rejuvenated. Every pore of their being is filled with spiritual love. They are overwhelmed with joy.

The mercy of the revered Saint Shah Satnam jiWhen these souls received this joyful news in the auspicious month of January, they were completely overjoyed. Their hearts blossomed with happiness at the pure divine vision. The Supreme Lord had come in human form—incarnated—for His beloved souls. With the arrival of the Supreme Lord, the entire universe blossomed with joy and fragrance. The whole universe danced. Every leaf sang songs of joy. Every head bowed in reverence. Souls sang hymns and celebrated His arrival. Gods and angels showered flowers at this sacred moment, expressing their delight. Every particle of creation shone with spiritual love. Indeed, it is a great fortune to have such a great Spiritual Master descend upon the earth and to be blessed with His divine vision.

Noor-e-Nazar

When the Spiritual Master is to incarnate, the time and the place are determined automatically. The sacred womb from which the Spiritual Master is to appear, the day, the hour, and the place of His birth are all prepared by His grace. It is a highly blessed, virtuous, and fortunate womb. He completes everything by His own will and appears at a destined time. This is His infinite divine play, which no one can fully comprehend.

Revered Param Pita, Shah Satnam Singh Ji Maharaj, incarnated on 25 January 1919 in the village of Shri Jalalana Sahib, situated in the district of Sirsa (Haryana). He was born at the house of His adorable father, Sardar Waryam Singh Ji, and His adorable mother, Askaur Ji. Their joy knew no bounds, for they had waited for eighteen long years. Parents who are blessed with a child after such a prolonged wait—and that too in the form of a son—experience happiness beyond all limits.

Sacred Childhood Appearance

For this blessed moment, His adorable parents had held on to hope for eighteen long years. During this period, they kept the flame of love alive in their hearts, remained engaged in devotional worship, and continued to help the poor and the needy. Whenever any saint or sage visited their home, they served him wholeheartedly and with great reverence.

In those days, a carefree and learned fakir happened to visit the village of Shri Jalalana Sahib. He was a true saint who inspired people to worship God. The adorable parents invited him into their home and welcomed him from the depths of their hearts. He stayed in the village for a couple of days, and during this time, he took his meals at the house of the adorable parents. The adorable mother herself served him food with devotion.

One day, being greatly pleased, the fakir proclaimed, “Dear devotees, your devotion to God and your sense of hospitality are supreme. Your desire to have a child shall surely be fulfilled by God Almighty. A Supreme Divine Soul shall take birth in your home.” After a few days, the fakir departed for another village. By the immense grace of God and the wishes of the fakir, after a long wait of eighteen years, the cherished wish of the adorable parents to have a child was finally fulfilled.

As soon as this sacred news reached the villagers and relatives, a wave of happiness spread everywhere. Every living being—human and creature alike—was filled with joy. The entire environment seemed to resonate with melodious tunes, and divine ecstasy prevailed all around. On the holy incarnation of the Revered Spiritual Master, the adorable family received congratulations from all sides. According to prevailing customs and traditions, platters filled with jaggery, powdered jaggery, homemade local sweets, and corn were distributed throughout the village. The bags of the poor were filled with grains. Every living being and every creature of the village offered gratitude to God Almighty for the holy incarnation of His Holiness.

Upon hearing the sacred news of the incarnation of  Revered Param Pita Ji, the fakir also arrived in the village and extended his best wishes to the adorable father, Sardar Waryam Singh Ji. The fakir revealed that His Holiness (The Revered Spiritual Master) would stay with you for forty years only and after that the task entrusted by God, the work of serving humanity & granting salvation to the souls for which His Holiness has incarnated, would go to the Perfect Spiritual Master who has sent Him as your child. He further said that they were exceedingly fortunate, for His Holiness had honoured them by choosing them as His adorable parents.

Sacred Childhood

Revered Param Pita Ji, belonged to the Sidhu dynasty. When His Holiness was only five years old, His adorable father passed away. Thereafter, His Holiness was raised under the loving care and guidance of the adorable mother Askaur Ji. His adorable maternal uncle, Sardar Veer Singh Ji, also extended unwavering love and support. Together with His adorable mother, he nurtured His Holiness in every possible way.

The adorable mother of His Holiness was endowed with lofty moral values. She possessed a deeply religious disposition and was an embodiment of humility and modesty. These same virtues were lovingly imparted to Revered Param Pita Ji, and as a result, His Holiness was cultured, affectionate, and sociable from early childhood. His childhood was marked by diligence and kindness. His Holiness lived in harmony with His peers and always extended timely and appropriate help to them.

The student life of His Holiness was of a high standard. His Holiness received His primary education at the village school. However, owing to His mother’s deep affection and concern, His Holiness could not pursue higher education. With her permission, His Holiness then took charge of managing His extensive business affairs. His Holiness managed these responsibilities with remarkable efficiency and, at the same time, actively participated in public welfare activities in the village. Through His tireless hard work, His fields and barns yielded abundant harvests, which often became a subject of discussion in the region.

Kind-Heartedness

Revered Param Pita Ji was an ocean of compassion from His very childhood. This truth is widely acknowledged throughout the region. Whoever came to the doorstep of His Holiness—be it the poor or the needy—was never sent away empty-handed. According to the situation and the need, His Holiness filled their hands with compassion and benevolence.

Once, a severe drought struck the area, and everyone was helpless. During this difficult time, the adorable family of His Holiness came forward to help every needy person. On one such occasion, a family approached the adorable mother seeking financial assistance, as only a few days remained before their daughter’s marriage. His Holiness was seated beside the adorable mother, listening attentively to their distress. Revered Param Pita Ji said, “Respected Mother, please help them. Give them one hundred and fifty or two hundred rupees, even if they ask for only one hundred, considering this as the marriage of My own sister.” Hearing these words from the innocent lips of His Holiness, the adorable mother felt immense pride. She lovingly kissed His forehead and extended full assistance to the needy family.

Feeding the hungry and giving water to the thirsty may appear to be ordinary acts, yet very few perform them with true compassion. His Holiness possessed a highly elevated philanthropic spirit, which was inherent in His nature. Affection and a willingness to help all were integral parts of the daily life of Revered Param Pita Ji. Even if His Holiness saw an animal, bird, or any creature in distress, He took every possible step to care for and comfort it.

It is commonly observed that many people rebuke the needy who come to their doorsteps and do not even offer them water. In contrast, His Holiness never drove away any animal grazing in His fields. Even in His presence, if an animal entered the fields and grazed on the crop, Revered Param Pita Ji never chased it away. On one occasion, while His Holiness was overseeing the fields, a bull would come daily and graze on the crop. His Holiness never removed it. The bull would satisfy its hunger and then sit peacefully beside His Holiness.

A complaint regarding this was made to the adorable mother. The following day, His Holiness gently patted the bull’s back and said, “Dear devotee, someone has complained today. Therefore, do not graze in one field alone; instead, graze while moving through different fields.” All the villagers bear witness to the fact that from that day onwards, the bull was never again seen standing in any single field and damaging the crop.

In this manner, there are countless examples of compassion, benevolence, and divine kindness displayed by His Holiness, Revered Param Pita Ji.

Cooperation in Welfare Works

As His Holiness grew into adulthood, the scope of welfare activities expanded significantly. His Holiness actively participated in public welfare works in the village. Any important village task was undertaken with His guidance, and respected members of the community sought His counsel; such tasks were carried out at His behest.

His Holiness was held in the highest esteem not only in the village but also in the surrounding and distant villages. People approached Him for solutions to various problems, and His advice was regarded as paramount. His Holiness was always at the forefront of humanitarian welfare activities. Whether it involved construction work, financial assistance to the poor, or support for a girl’s marriage, His Holiness never hesitated to contribute fully.

It was through the efforts of His Holiness that Sri Gurudwara Sahib of the village was established. His Holiness provided complete support and played a leading role in its construction. This became a significant blessing for the village, as most of the residents were Sikhs and the entire village was in need of such a place of worship. By extending His wholehearted support to this sacred endeavour, His Holiness fulfilled the spiritual needs of the people. The entire village celebrated this achievement with great joy.

Meeting with the Spiritual Guide

By virtue of the sacred rites and values imparted by the adorable mother, His Holiness was already deeply inclined towards devotion to God. Being a Sikh, His Holiness was profoundly influenced by the sacred teachings of the Gurus. From a young age, His Holiness took pride in upholding Sikh values and traditions.

From time to time, His Holiness also visited various pilgrimage sites. As He grew older, His Holiness also partook of Amrit  ( received Sikh initiation) at Gurudwara Shri Talwandi Sabo in accordance with Sikh tradition and remained engaged in continuous Shabad Kirtan. His Holiness recited hymns from the Holy Guru Granth Sahib every morning and evening. He listened to the sacred Gurbani with deep attentiveness. His Holiness would repeatedly read and reflect upon the verse:

“Dhur Ki Bani Aayee Tin Sagli Chint Mitayee”

( Divine Voice when received, All worries are dispelled.)

These words led Him to contemplate the Divine Voice that removes all anxieties and sorrows. In His earnest quest, His Holiness approached many sages and spiritual leaders and listened to their discourses in order to recognize a Perfect Spiritual Guide. Whenever His Holiness met such sages and spiritual leaders, He carefully observed, examined, and tested them. However, His purpose of discovering the path to Ultimate Truth remained unfulfilled. Thus, His Holiness continued His unceasing search for the Truth.

At the same time, His Holiness met the Most Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj. From what His Holiness had heard about Revered Sai Ji and Dera Sacha Sauda, and after attending the spiritual congregation conducted by Revered Sai Ji and examining every truth, His Holiness devoted Himself solely to Revered Sai Ji then and there. The Ultimate Truth that His Holiness had been seeking was found in the divine presence of Revered Sai Ji. His Holiness was fully satisfied.

His Holiness continued attending the spiritual congregation for three years and tried many times to be initiated into God’s Words, but each time the Revered Sai Ji would say, “His Holiness has not yet been commanded to be blessed with God’s Words. We will call His Holiness at the right time and bless Him with God’s Words. Until then, keep attending the spiritual congregation. The Negative Power will not call His Holiness. We Ourself are responsible for His Holiness.”

Leader of the Living Spiritual Master

The Most Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj conducted a spiritual congregation on 14 March 1954 at ‘Dera Sacha Sauda Anami Dham’ in the village of Ghunkawali. After the spiritual congregation, His Holiness was personally called by Revered Sai Ji. “It has been commanded to bless His Holiness with God’s Words today. Come inside and sit near Our seat; We are just coming there.”

When His Holiness went inside, many seekers of God’s Words were already seated there, and there was no place near the royal seat of Revered Sai Ji. Therefore, His Holiness sat at the back among the seekers of God’s Words. When Revered Sai Ji came inside, He called out the holy name of His Holiness and asked Him to sit near His royal seat. Revered Sai Ji openly declared:

“His Holiness is being blessed with God’s Words while being seated near the royal seat, because a very special and specific task is to be entrusted to His Holiness. His Holiness will be designated as the Leader of the Living Spiritual Master, and the duty of bestowing God’s Words upon the masses will also be entrusted to His Holiness.”

Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj revealed Param Pita Ji to the world as soon as Revered Sai Ji initiated His Holiness into God’s Words. In a way, Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj had chosen Param Pita Ji as His own form. Not only this, but even afterwards, Revered Sai Ji would often explain to His companions through gestures about Param Pita Ji, saying that Param Pita Ji was a very great personality.

For example, once when Revered Sai Ji went to the nearby village of Shri Jalalana Sahib, He drew a round circle on the ground with His holy stick and addressed the accompanying volunteers: “Come here, We will show you the footprint of God Himself.” One of the volunteers (who knew that it was the footprint of Revered Param Pita Ji) said, “This is the footprint of Zaildar Harbans Singh Ji of Shri Jalalana Sahib.” At this, Revered Sai Ji, striking the holy stick forcefully on the ground, replied: “We do not know any Zaildar. We only know that this is the footprint of God Himself.”  Revered Sai Ji’s intention in saying this was clear: Param Pita Ji was to be the next Spiritual Master of Dera Sacha Sauda. But what is the status of an ordinary person that he can grasp the essence of the perfect saints?

Divine Vision in the Eternal Form

Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj had already chosen Param Pita Ji as His successor, but Revered Sai Ji had fixed a specific time to reveal this divine form to the world. Revered Sai Ji explained this truth to the people several times through gestures before formally announcing His successor, but His divine ways were beyond common understanding.

Revered Sai Ji would often praise Param Pita Ji wholeheartedly and declare His Holiness to be the wisest and most knowledgeable. Param Pita Ji performed the daily rituals both morning and evening and possessed profound knowledge of the sacred Gurbani. People generally assumed that this was the reason why His Holiness was bestowed with such a lofty title by Revered Sai Ji. However, when people began to understand the spiritual methods of Revered Sai Ji, they were astonished.

From the very first meeting, Revered Sai Ji subjected His Holiness to one test after another. After these spiritual trials, Revered Sai Ji stayed at the Dera of Shri Jalalana Sahib for eighteen days. During this period, the building of the Gadrana Dera was demolished, and at times the building of the Chormar Dera was also demolished. While different deras were being dismantled, the Revered Sai Ji ordered that all building materials—such as wood, iron, doors, and windows—be collected at Shri Jalalana Sahib.

Revered Sai Ji assigned His Holiness the duty of carrying the debris from the demolished Gadrana Dera. While debris from other demolished deras was being transported, the volunteers from Ghunkawali were instructed to remove the already collected materials. Even as His Holiness remained engaged in transporting the debris of the Gadrana Dera, Revered Sai Ji initiated the reconstruction work of the same Dera. An ordinary human being cannot comprehend such divine actions of Revered Spiritual Master. In reality, this was a part of the intense spiritual testing being conducted by the Revered Sai Ji.

His Holiness had already devoted and dedicated Himself completely to the sacred service of Revered Sai Ji. Therefore, He obeyed every holy command with sincerity and devotion. Thus, after conducting numerous arduous tests and finding His Holiness fully worthy, Revered Sai Ji declared,

“We conducted tests of Sardar Satnam Singh Ji and did not let His Holiness know.”

Arduous Test

One day, Revered Sai Ji ordered that the mansion-like personal residence of His Holiness be demolished and that all the dismantled materials be brought to Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa. Outwardly, in worldly terms, this appeared to be an extremely severe test, but His Holiness did not care for public prestige and obeyed every word of Revered Sai Ji.

In compliance with the holy command, His Holiness demolished His mansion with His own hands, transported several truckloads of building materials and household belongings to Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa, and placed them before Revered Sai Ji. It was the day of the monthly spiritual congregation. At midnight on Saturday, Revered Sai Ji came out and, upon seeing the large heap of goods, said,

“Whose goods are these? Take them away immediately. If someone comes and asks, what answer will be given? Whoever owns these goods should look after them personally.”

It was the peak of winter, with drizzle and icy winds flowing from above, making the atmosphere extremely cold. Obeying the sacred command, His Holiness spent the entire night in the open, guarding His belongings while immersed in divine bliss. In the morning, His Holiness distributed all His possessions among the devotees and sat in the divine presence of the Revered Sai Ji.

Shahenshah Mastana Ji Maharaj was deeply pleased by the sacrifice made by His Holiness. In fact, His divine mission had been fulfilled. Everyone had witnessed the spiritual methods of the Revered Sai Ji and was observing the unfolding events. All this was done so that the world might understand the true meaning of discipleship, and so that no one would raise objections or harbour resentment when Param Pita Ji was declared His successor.

Spiritual Successor to Revered Sai Ji

Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj had also chosen the date of 28 February 1960, on which the Revered Sai Ji was to declare Param Pita Ji as His successor before the world. In accordance with the holy command of the Revered Sai Ji, His Holiness was elaborately adorned from head to toe with garlands of currency notes. His Holiness sat in a jeep and led a solemn procession through the city of Sirsa. Thousands of devotees of Dera Sacha Sauda participated in this grand procession.

Everyone was astonished to witness this magnificent occasion and came to know that Sardar Harbans Singh Ji of Shri Jalalana Sahib had been declared the spiritual successor to the Revered Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj. Upon its return to Dera Sacha Sauda, the procession was welcomed on the road by Revered Sai Ji Himself.

 Revered Sai Ji publicly declared:

“From today, We have transformed Sardar Harbans Singh Ji from an individual self into Satnam—the Supreme Power; from an individual soul into God Himself. It is the same Satnam upon whose support the entire universe stands.”

The royal stage was specially decorated, and Revered Sai Ji had the Tera Vas (Sacred House) constructed specifically for Revered Shah Satnam Singh Ji. Revered Sai Ji called Param Pita Ji and enthroned Him on the royal stage alongside Himself.

Addressing the spiritual congregation, the Revered Sai Ji proclaimed:

“From today onwards, We have bestowed upon Sardar Satnam Singh Ji Our own divine form. This is the same Satnam whose holy name people across the world have been reciting throughout their lives. By the sacred command of Revered Sawan Shah Sai Ji, We have brought Shah Satnam Ji from the higher abodes and placed His Holiness before you all. Whosoever is blessed with His vision, even from behind, shall not go to hell. His Holiness will save such a soul by virtue of His divine grace.”

As the Second Spiritual Master of Dera Sacha Sauda

Revered Param Pita Ji was enthroned as the second Spiritual Master of Dera Sacha Sauda on 28 February 1960. For the next 30–31 years, His Holiness bestowed immense love and compassion upon lakhs of devotees of Dera Sacha Sauda. By virtue of His boundless benevolence, the devotees became fully devoted and dedicated to the principles of Dera Sacha Sauda. The followers, who were once in hundreds, gradually increased to thousands and then to lakhs.

Today, the benevolence and sacred teachings of His Holiness are topics of discussion in countless homes. Through His divine grace, His Holiness conducted thousands of spiritual congregations across the states of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and other regions. He inspired eleven lakh people to renounce evil habits and blessed them with God’s Word, thereby enabling them to attain divine vision. His Holiness composed profound spiritual scriptures and thousands of spiritual hymns, all written in simple and accessible language.

The primary aim of Revered Param Pita Ji was to connect humanity with the worship of God. Therefore, His Holiness carried out every sacred responsibility with complete dedication. By following His divine teachings, millions of households were transformed into abodes of peace and harmony. Where addiction and moral decay once prevailed, these evils were completely eradicated. Through His boundless grace, people embraced humanity, goodness, and honesty, thereby making their lives meaningful.

He infused people with spiritual strength through the Name of Ram, saving generations of followers. Even today, not merely hundreds but millions of devotees remain steadfastly connected to Dera Sacha Sauda, and their future generations continue to shape virtuous lives through devotion to the Name of Ram. Owing to the tireless efforts and unparalleled dedication of Param Pita Ji, the name of Dera Sacha Sauda resonates throughout every corner of the world.

His Holiness’s profound love for Dera Sacha Sauda and its devotees was unparalleled. His thoughts were always centred on their welfare. He constantly wished that no one should suffer sorrow or hardship. His heartfelt desire was that devotees should come to the Dera with full faith, receive abundant love, and be cared for with even greater compassion.

With this sacred purpose, His Holiness began the process of selecting His successor. For nearly one and a quarter years, He held meetings with a few dedicated volunteers and shared this noble thought with them. However, the actions of a Spiritual Master are beyond the comprehension of ordinary beings; the divine mysteries of such decisions cannot be understood by common perception.

Thus, in 1989, while these meetings were ongoing, the volunteers humbly folded their hands and said,

“O Spiritual Master, we are blind; how can a blind person search for one who has sight? Only the Spiritual Master can recognize His own divine form. Therefore, whomever His Holiness chooses by His command is fully acceptable to us. We humbly accept and follow His divine will.”

In truth, this divine task had already been completed by His Holiness; only the spoken affirmation of the volunteers remained. Subsequently, He declared the present Revered Guru, Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, as His successor on 23 September 1990, although the entire process of enthronement had been completed nearly three months earlier. By appointing Saint Dr. MSG as His successor, He added a golden chapter to the illustrious history of Dera Sacha Sauda.

For the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda, this stands as one of His greatest and most enduring acts of benevolence, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. For this divine grace, the devotees shall remain eternally indebted. He bestowed upon them such an exalted Spiritual Master whose glory, however extensively described, can never be fully expressed. Revered Param Pita Ji reassured the devotees with the immortal declaration:

“We were, We are, and We shall remain.”

The entire fraternity of followers expresses its deepest gratitude from the core of their hearts.

Heartfelt Congratulations to all Devotees on the Auspicious Incarnation Day!
