Hats off to the saviours Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force Wing The toll in the Inderlok building collapse tragedy, which claimed 11 lives, could have been higher if it hadn’t been for Dera Sacha Sauda’s Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force, that immediately stepped up relief operations and managed to rescue two persons, who were buried deep in the debris.
The catastrophic turn of events that came to light on the ill-fated day, were first witnessed by Jahangirpuri’s Vijay Insan and locality sweeper Rahul Insan.
Both Vijay and Rahul without wasting precious time informed the members of Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force, who quickly reached the spot. Yogendra, Devendra, Ramswaroop, Naresh Insan, Subhash Insan, Baankelal Insan, Vijay Insan and many others reached the stop with their tools and got on with the rescue operations. Recalling the turn of events during the day, Yogendra said, “The debris and ash from the collapse had scattered all around in the narrow lane making it impossible to carry on the rescue operations. Nothing was visible under the circumstances.
In such a situation we thought about the inspiring words of Guruji Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan and could feel a renewed force of energy running through our veins. And soon we started the rescue operation with renewed vigour.” “All of a sudden, I noticed a hand under a large boulder of concrete and informed everyone about it. Quickly we decided to dislodge it using our bare hands as using heavy tools would have harmed the person stuck inside. Many of us sustained injuries in the process, but finally managed to rescue the child, who was buried there.” “The unconscious child, who must have been 11 to 12 years of age was promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
The child is safe, but has been unable to talk because of the shock and so his identify hasn’t been established as yet,” added Yogendra.
Similarly, under the leadership of Rahul Insan, the devotees of Dera Sacha Sauda had managed to rescue a man buried under the debris and pile of wood at the Inderlok building collapse site.“We are provided training by the Dera Sacha Sauda, so that we are able to effectively tackle such catastrophic tragedies,” said Ramswaroop Insan of Green ‘S’ Welfare Force. Recalling the incidents from the day, he said, “The collapse had blocked the narrow lane in Inderlok, severely obstructing the passage of traffic.
We not only saved the lives of those stuck under the wreckage, but also cleared the lane, lifting boulder by boulder and sending it away on MCD provided trolleys.” This isn’t the first instance when the Dera Sacha Sauda formed Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force has preformed such daredevil rescue operations. They had made their presence felt during such a tragedy in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar. In Ludhiana, their efforts of rescuing people stuck in the basement of a collapsed building were recognised and appreciated aby the local administration.
On January 21, 2001, Guruji Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan had formed the Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force Wing. The Force was to serve as a specialised disaster relief and welfare agency dedicated to provide selfless service to humanity in distress. The force has more than 65,000 trained volunteers including qualified & experienced doctors, engineers, trained rescuers, paramedics, reconstruction workers and people from various trades and all its members are engaged in 102 Humanitarian Activities run by Dera Sacha Sauda.
The Shah Satnam Ji Green ‘S’ Welfare Force, since its inception, has been on forefront at any time of unfortunate calamities that calls for humanitarian needs. This Force also works against social evils like foeticide, drug abuse, child labour and prostitution. Blood donation camps are a regular exercise by members of this Force which boasts of international recognitions for its enthusiasm to serve the humanity.
This Force has bagged 16 world records in welfare services of which four have been created in field of blood donation. The sheer enthusiasm of the volunteers have earned them a title of True Blood Pump. Annual refresher course and training is also conducted for members of this Force to keep them updated and fit. These volunteers undergo disaster management training for specialised rescue efforts in cases of disasters, first aid and fire-fighting to name a few.
The Force has trained rescuers to perform their deed in exigencies ranging from floods to earthquakes, from fires to avalanches. Even the geographically distant and desolate regions have not been a dampener in the way of these brave warriors, be it flood-hit Leh & Ladakh, Tsunami hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands or deluge-struck Kedarnath. It is worth mentioning here that these volunteers, who risk their lives for the cause of humanity, have even signed a legal document that makes them liable for the consequences of their actions.
