“O son, study hard as you have to become a big man”. We all must have heard these words from our parents at some or the other point of time.
They have their own set of dreams for us and we got to fulfill them. To run a society there ought to be a system, a system that defines everything, for every genre.
There are set of rules and etiquettes that define, what should be done and how? What is the Right Way (as defined by the society etc.)?
But there is a very different way, the way of instincts that goes via heart, via one’s feelings. And over a passage of time, if we see carefully, we shall find that this way of instincts paves far better future for people. Bookish knowledge, is undoubtedly necessary but not the ultimate way to achieve a desired goal.
We have many examples to prove why practical knowledge is important along with bookish knowledge. Here are some legendary personalities:

Bill Gates
The richest man in the world for 19 years in a queue. The one who manages to donate 80% of his earnings for various social welfare and upliftment causes, across the globe. The same dignitary is a Harvard dropout. In one of his formal course he could score only 1590 out of 16000. He had such a pulling interest towards computers that in his 13 years of age, he got the first computer like machine at home, wondering at its processing technology. And today we all use the user friendly window, that is the gift directly from home of Bill, Microsoft. The same Bill, who was dropped out of Harvard at the tender age of 20, lately got honorary degree of law from the same University.
Bill pursued his curiosity in the field of computers and carried out his inventions, which at that time seemed so foolish to people. He started everything with his friend, at his house’s garage and today the organization is known as Microsoft.
Warren Buffet
The king of stocks and shares, Warren Buffet started his first venture at the age of 11. Not following the routine, he developed his roots more in the field of stock market. And for two years in a queue, he superseded Bill Gates and became richest person in the world. Someone asking the secret to his success, he said “I only valued money and had strong faith that money can generate more money. Also I valued every coin invested by my stakeholders”.
He was far ahead of his Time. Having faith in his skills, he approached Harvard for admissions at a very early age, but he was rejected, because he was too young. Leaving the conventional way of routine studies there itself, he moved to the stock markets and became the legendary figure there.
Larry Page on Practical Knowledge
The Google Boy. Larry had interest in studies but he had strong interest in Analytics. Unable to get admission into the field of interest, unwillingly he took some related filed as his research topic. But due to his deep interest in analytics, he picked that as part of his internship project during vacations. Merely working on internship, in vacations, he ended up working on an idea creating multiple link page on web, shot out of single query and ‘Google’ is the end result of that.
So with the aforesaid examples we can see that it is not always the routine, rather the instinct and the practical workout that pays at the end of the day. No where it means that bookish knowledge is useless; rather it aims to propound the message that listen to the beats of your heart and read what it says? Listen to your instincts and try making your passion, your profession and you never know; may be one day you sit at the acme of the richest people’s list.
