Summer has started showing its effect. Anyway, the intensity of the summer is increasing every year as compared to the previous year. The common man becomes miserable due to the fierceness of the summer. When the scorching sun and heatwave cause trouble, then not only humans but also all living beings suffer greatly.

These days are very scorching. During these days, on one hand the Sun God is raining fireballs and on the other hand everyone has to deal with the shortage of water. In this way, there is a complete chaos. Then we come to know the importance of water. On normal days we never worry about water. I don’t know how much water we waste every day. And when we have to deal with the problem of water during summer days, we understand how important and invaluable water is for us.

Though water is easily available everywhere, it is very precious for us. It is so rare that we can live without food for some time, but if water is not available, man cannot survive. Such is the importance of water for us. Therefore, we can say that ‘If there is water, there is life.’

We have read and heard a lot about Alexander, the Great. He died due to lack of water. Alexander was going to conquer the world but he died in the jungles of Babylon (Iran-Iraq region) suffering from high fever and craving for a drop of water. This incident happened hundreds of years ago. But it is still relevant and worth thinking about to understand the importance of water.

Life is the same and the need is also the same. Even today, when we find an animal, bird or person unconscious somewhere, we quickly sprinkle water on him so that he can be saved. Such an effort of ours at the right time can save someone’s life. People suffering due to heat need immediate help, because this heat can prove to be very fatal for anyone. Animals and birds often become helpless due to nonavailability of water. Therefore, we have to take full care of those mute creatures. Many times, we ourselves also become careless. We also need to be very cautious while travelling in this hot season. At least carry a water bottle with you. Who knows it might save someone’s life somewhere.

Try to save the trees and plants around you by watering them, because as humans, it is our duty to be altruistic. Giving water to someone gives us peace and this act also makes us great. When we quench a parched region suffering from the blows of the heat with water, we fulfill one of our noblest deeds. Remember, how much we contributed to this water service last summer! Have we added another virtuous deed to our share by giving water to any animal, bird, tree or person or not? If we have done it, then even today it will give you a pleasant feeling and inspiration. If we have not done it, then try it this time. You will get a unique happiness. Your soul will also get a lot of peace.

You will be filled with positive energy. The devotees of Dera Sacha Sauda, following the holy teachings of the Revered Guru Ji, set up water stalls at various places under the ‘Pyaau’ campaign in 168 Humanitarian Works and give water to the passersby and arrange water for animals and birds. Under the ‘Drop’ campaign, the devotees provide pure and cold water by installing drinking water filters in rural and slum areas.

This season of summer is extremely exhausting and frustrating. In this season, everyone is in need of relief. And the most useful relief is the relief provided by water. Therefore, it becomes necessary for us to take care of ourselves and others these days. This season also teaches us a great lesson. Do not let water get contaminated, keep it safe, do not let it flow waste. It means that water is a priceless heritage. It is a blessing.

Everyone has to pay attention to it. We have to remember that the water that our elders saw in ponds and wells, all those sources are drying up and today we are seeing the same water in canters, cans and bottles. This is not the doing of anyone else, but of man himself. We have to be careful so that this situation does not get worse. If we do not take care today, there will be no water and if there is no water, then life will also become difficult.
