If you want to develop a mental attitude of happiness and peace, you should apply this rule i.e. “Think happy thoughts, act happy, then you too will start feeling happy.

  • Just for today I will be happy. This means that Abraham Lincoln’s statement was true that ‘Most people are as happy as they decide to be.’ Happiness comes from within it has nothing to do with external events.
  • Just for today I will try to adapt to the way the world is, instead of trying to mold the world to my wishes. Whatever be my family, my business and my destiny, I will try to adapt myself to them.
  • Just for today I will take care of my body. I will exercise, take care of the body, nourish it and not neglect it, so that it can work like a perfect machine to obey me.
  • Just for today I will try to strengthen my brain. I will learn some useful things. I will not be mentally lazy. I will read something that requires thought, effort and concentration.
  • Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways. I will do good to someone and will do it in such a way that he does not know my name. Following William James’s advice, I will do at least two things I don’t want to do just for the sake of practice.
  • Just for today I will be happy. I will look as good as I can, wear as many nice clothes as I can, speak in a sweet voice, behave decently, and praise as much as I can. I will not criticize anyone. I will not find fault with anyone nor will I try to dominate anyone.
  • Just for today I will try to live only in this day and not try to cope with the problems of my whole life. I can do things for twelve hours that would astonish me if I had to do them all my life.
  • Just for today I will make a plan. I will write down what I am going to do each hour. I may not be able to follow it perfectly, but I will have this plan. This will drive away two of my enemies: haste and indecision.
  • Just for today, I will take out half an hour for myself and sit quietly and contemplate. In this half an hour I will think about God many times so that positive changes can take place in my life.
  • Just for today I will not be afraid at all. I will be happy. I will enjoy everything beautiful and believe that those I love also love me.
