Stay Healthy in the Office
Introduction: People working in offices start gaining weight after some time because their movement becomes very less. There is less work in some offices. People keep eating and drinking something to pass the time.
There is a lot of work in government & private offices hence one has to sit on the chair for a long time. Both the reasons help in weight gain. If you become alert in time, you will be able to control your increasing weight.
- If your office is on the first, second or third floor, then use the stairs instead of the lift. Even if it is a multi-storey building, you still climb a few floors of stairs. Then take the lift.
- While going to office, take lunch prepared from home which should be low in oil. If you have stopped bringing lunchbox from home and are eating food from the office canteen, then change it quickly. If you are alone in the city then prefer to stay in PG so that you can get home cooked food.
- If you drink tea or coffee from the canteen, do not eat biscuits, cakes, chips etc. with it. Carry roasted gram, some roasted namkeen or sprouts etc. from home so that extra calories do not enter the body along with tea or coffee.
- If there is facility to do some exercise in the office then must use it. If there is a fitness center nearby, then reach office early in the morning and go for exercise or join the gym after office hours.
- Do not play games on the computer or chat with friends after having lunch time. If possible, go for a walk outside.
- Minimize the intake of high calorie food. Whenever you have to eat high calorie food, try to balance it in your next meal like having fruits with milk, eating only two slices of warm brown bread with vegetable soup.
- If you want to drink water, go to the water filter yourself and bring water. By the way, fill a glass of water and keep it on the table so that you can keep drinking sips of water every now and then. By doing this one feels less hungry or one gets less attention towards hunger.
- If your colleague is on another floor and you need to talk then instead of using your mobile phone or extension phone, go to him personally so that the movement is maintained.
- You can do some stretching exercises while sitting on your chair so that the body remains agile. Keep doing subtle movements of the eyes, neck and legs so that the body remains active.
