We’re too quick to search the internet, to listen to the specialists and not trust ourselves.Listening to your baby should be most important than listening to other people.
New parenthood and exhaustion go hand in hand, so make sure that sleep is your top priority and work out how you’ll get as much sleep as you can. Some parent-tested tacticsconsist of napping when the baby is napping, getting into a habit to nurse lying down so you can rest along with the baby and exchanging shifts with your spouse.
While experienced grandparents and books are great, you’re the expert, when it comes to your baby. So listen to your instinct, because every baby and every parent is unique.
Doingyour Homework
All baby care related chores, like bathing and breastfeeding are learned chores that get easier over time with practice. Watching videos and reading will make you better equipped for what’s to come.Find out what resources are available in your community for new-parent by contacting your doctor, caregiverorcommunity centre.
Arrange Support
Arrange for a helping hand to do the cooking, houseworkand other tasks so you can dedicateall your energy in recovering from child-birth and caring for the baby and yourselves.
Bond with your Partner
Find time for a few heart-to-heart conversations before the baby’s arrival, especially about how you’re going to distribute your time for baby care and other tasks.
