Twice a year it passes in front of the equator. Because of which the situation of equal day and night is created. The Earth encounters different things as it revolves around the Sun. On September 23, the Earth passes through a region when the Sun illuminates half of the Earth.
At the same time, on June 21, such a situation is created when most of the sunlight falls on the Earth, and it becomes the longest day. Similarly, December 22 is the longest night. In 12 months, the Earth completes its orbit around the Sun. All these incidents happen because the Earth is tilted by 23.5 degrees. The tilt of the Earth was calculated from the North Pole and the South Pole. Astronomy is centuries old, even when there was no modern science, people have been counting the moon and stars.

September 23 is also called Equinox in the language of science. Equinox is derived from Latin. Equinox is made up of the words aqui and nox. Aqui means equal and Nox means night. On this day the Sun passes just above the Earth’s equator. Therefore on this day both night and day are of 12 hours each. This day is of special importance for astronomers.
