World News Day 2026: Sachi Shiksha Newsroom Joins Global Trusted Journalism Campaign
New Delhi: (Sachi Shiksha News) World News Day 2026 is being observed on September 28 to highlight the importance of fact-based and trusted journalism. More than 1,000 news organisations and supporting agencies across over 100 countries are participating in the global campaign.
From India, the Sachi Shiksha newsroom is also participating in this year’s World News Day campaign, joining newsrooms worldwide in highlighting the value of trusted journalism and the work that goes behind producing credible news.
The campaign encourages participating news organisations to show audiences the process behind journalism, including questioning, investigation, verification and explaining facts. It comes at a time when AI-generated content and disinformation are increasingly competing with factual reporting for public attention.
Launched in 2018 with 17 participating organisations, World News Day reached more than 1,000 publishers across 108 countries and 17 languages last year. The 2026 campaign runs from September 25 to October 1, with September 28 as the focal day.
The campaign message is: “Know the facts. Understand what matters. Choose trusted journalism. Because it’s your right to know.” It also encourages audiences to read local news, verify information before sharing it and support trusted journalism.
World News Day is jointly organised by the World Editors Forum of WAN-IFRA, the Canadian Journalism Foundation and Project Kontinuum.
