Veteran Athlete Ilam Chand Insan Won Gold Medal Again

With devotion and yoga, a person can make himself so strong that success kisses his feet at every stage of his life. 91-year-old Ilam Chand Insan is endowed with such passion and courage, who even at this age wins every field of sports. Ilam Chand, famous as the Medal Machine, has also been honoured with the “Vyavrudha Samman”. Recently, he surprised everyone by winning gold in pole vault and silver in high jump in the 45th National Masters Championship held in Karnataka.

Veteran athlete Ilam Chand Insan has won more than 530 medals so far, which include 113 international and 240 national medals. Ilam Chand, who is close to turning a century old, is still so agile that he runs so fast in a sprint race that he disappears from the eyes of the onlooker in the blink of an eye. Giving credit for this achievement to Dera Sacha Sauda’s Revered Guru Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, he said that whatever he is today, Revered Guru Ji is the holy inspiration. His guidance is giving new momentum to my life every moment.

The 45th National Masters Championship was held from 4th to 9th March at Kanterava Indoor Stadium and Sports Authority of India Ground in Bengaluru city of Karnataka. Playing for Haryana, 91-year-old veteran player Ilam Chand Insan became the flag bearer. A total of 114 players including 27 women players from Haryana state participated in this championship.

In the age group of above 85 years, Ilam Chand won gold in pole vault and silver in high jump. Ilam Chand, who plays the role of yoga coach, has won more than 530 medals in different events so far. Due to his excellent performance in sports, Ilam Chand has so far been awarded Life Achievement Award by the Chief Minister of Haryana, Honor by the Honorable Prime Minister and Veteran Honor by His Excellency Vice President in Sportsman Adventure.

Life Changed in 2000, the Door to Becoming an Athlete Opened

Originally a resident of Ranchad village in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, Ilam Chand Insan currently lives in Shah Satnam Ji Pura village in Sirsa district. He has served as a school Principal for 16 years. He started practicing yoga in 2000, when he met Revered Guru Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan for the first time during a spiritual congregation at Dera Sacha Sauda due to prolonged suffering from diseases like diabetes and cough. During that time, Revered Guru Ji advised Ilam Chand to exercise and do yoga. After this, he made yoga the basis of his life, which not only ended his diseases but also gave him a new entry into the world of sports. Since then, whatever competition Ilam Chand goes to play, he returns with a medal.
