Mansi’s Inability to Say ‘No’
Due to fear of damaging her image, Mansi was unable to say ‘no’ to anyone for any work. Everyone took advantage of this. But when Mansi’s health started deteriorating and she needed rest, even those whom she used to help continued giving her work. Being unable to say anything, Mansi started feeling low and depressed.
The Turning Point in Jaipur
Mansi went to Jaipur to her elder sister’s house for a few days. Her sister used to take classes on ‘personality grooming’ there. A foreign lady was invited to give a lecture in her class. Mansi also attended the lecture. The topic of her lecture was ‘How to Say No’.
Realisation of Her Mistake
Listening to the lecture opened Mansi’s eyes. She realised what a big mistake she was making. In her desire to be nice to everyone, she was doing great injustice to her own life and happiness.
Harmful Effects of Always Saying ‘Yes’
When someone comes to you with work, you get ready to do it even though you already have a lot of work pending. In such a situation, stress occurs. Then you get irritated and eat various kinds of snacks. You try to relax by sitting in front of the TV, but what actually happens is high blood pressure, narrowing of arteries, and the onset of serious diseases like heart disease, cancer, and mental illnesses.
Always Prioritise Yourself
Doing this is not selfish at all; rather, it is a key to saving yourself. As a responsible human being, taking care of yourself is also your duty. Do not immerse yourself so much in family responsibilities and job stress that you forget yourself. Always keep yourself at number one.
Practise Saying ‘No’
Include saying ‘no’ in your habit as well. Many times, it happens that just to stay obliging and keep saying yes, you condition yourself. Then you are unable to come out of this syndrome. This very mistake becomes a curse in your life, devours your happiness, and drains the joy out of life.
There are many people who always say ‘no’ to every work. This is also not right. ‘Humanity’ is our primary duty. One must definitely help others in times of need. But stay alert and act smart. It should not happen that someone takes unfair advantage of you under the guise of humanity.
Think Before You Say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’
Next time, when you are asked to do something and you cannot decide whether you want to do it or not, tell them that you will answer later and take time. During this time, decide whether you want to do that work or not, or whether you will have enough time for it or not. Only then decide whether to say yes or no.
Learn to Say ‘No’ and Stay Happy
The point is that saying ‘yes’ every time is not appropriate; therefore, include saying ‘no’ in your lifestyle. Do not keep extra work burdens on yourself just thinking, “If I don’t do their work, they will feel bad or won’t give me importance.” Otherwise, you will start remaining troubled, which becomes the main cause of tension. Therefore, learn to say ‘no’ and stay happy forever.
