How to Shop and Take Care of Fancy Clothes This generation though adopting western culture, but there are some traditions which will remain for centuries. Among these, there is one tradition to wear costly clothes on special festivals, rituals (prayer),
Deepawali, Eid, Lohri, Pongal and in addition to these, on marriage occasions, tradition of wearing Zaridar Lehnga, Chunni, Sari, Salwar Kameej still continues. Today also in the marriages of any religion and caste, we see the groups of ladies wearing the caste special Zari dresses.
In today’s period when the price hike is at its top, the cost of these dresses is increasing like anything. The costs are touching the limit of the sky. So the ZARI dresses purchased once need care and if taken proper care, it can be worn for a long time. Now comes the point, how to keep fancy and heavy zaridar dresses with care, so that it lasts four times long.
Here some tips are being given:
- Whenever you go for shopping of heavy work clothes and fancy clothes, always prefer to buy it in day light and bring the dress out of the showroom and see its colour and shining. In the night due to heavy lights you cannot judge the colour and shining of the work.
- Whenever you buy heavy zari cloth, the inner cloth for the dress should also be of good quality. Some times if the inner cloth is of low quality it is torn of. Like that matching fall, petticoat and the blouse should also be purchased with the sari.
- Whenever you have to wear ZARI sari, take it out and hang one day before. If you have to wear sari, take out petticoat and blouse also. If you have to wear suit, take out the chuuni also one day before.
- Before wearing the heavy sari, put the fall also. Fall should be washed and ironed and put it with the fast colour thread.
- If you are going to purchase a heavy work sari or ZARI dress, do not try only one shop and pay high prices. It is better to visit 2-3 show rooms and try to find the information of latest designs, prices, variety; as to which cloth is in fashion. After gathering all the information, you go to your known shopkeeper and buy from there. If you buy the cloth from the first shop, it may be outdated or the shopkeeper must have charged more. Hence before sending the money it is better to roam around.
- After making use of these clothes, do not immediately fold it because the smell of the sweating will create bad smell. Open the cloth so that the sweating is dried. Without drying the sweating, fungus comes and sometimes dark big stains also appear on the cloth.
- After some time of wearing the dresses, it gets wrinkles. It is better to get the sarees role press, where get ironed other stitched dresses. And if yourself are pressing, iron with thin cloth on it on the reverse side.
- Never put ZARI CLOTH open and do not put also it in the newspaper. The humidity in the atmosphere and the colour of the newspaper may make it black.
- Fancy or heavy work, zari work dresses should be worn very carefully. As far as possible, put less number of pins on it. In Lehnga and Chunri set, press the palloo inside. After wearing these clothes, never spray perfume on it because the chemical effect will make the metal of zari black.
- Whenever there is a strain on the zari cloth, rub it immediately, however gently. It will be better that you take piece of cotton and dip that in shampoo or liquid detergent, rub it; and then dip that piece of cotton in water and again rub it. After that try to remove the stain gently.
- Never put naphthalene balls in highly shining clothes and not let these clothes come in contact with any other fast smell pesticide because the chemicals used in these can make the zari black.
- Mostly the ZARI clothes become dirty from the inner side like fall of the saree, ghaghra from inner side, the sleeves of the blouse, and the Odhni (Chunni) from the head. For the fall of the saree, you can take slowly the fall out so that the threads do not come out from the cloth and there are no big holes in the cloth. You can reuse the fall, after washing.
