Why peacock dances?
Peacock does not dance out of love only. No doubt love exhibition dance (Prnany Kriya) is the main dance, but there are other reasons and objectives behind its dance.
Periodical Dance:
Especially during the lactation period, Male peacock dances. First with a jurk of style its neck makes the shelter of its feathers and exhibits the shelter of feathers walking diagonally it tries to touch the female peacock. While dancing, one peacock does not allow other peacock in the circle width of 8 to 10 meters. If the other peacock comes and it is weak or of the same strength, this peacock attacks on the other peacock and forces the other to run away. But if the other peacock is stronger than this peacock, it stops the dance and gives way to the other peacock.
EGO/ PROUD SHOWING DANCE:
Dancing to show ego is the specialty of the peacock. Seeing other peacock, pigeon, squirrel or any other bird or animal very near to his dining or rest space, it starts dancing to oppose them or show ego. It also looks like a love dance, but in this dance there is absence of attracting expressions, rather the anger expressions can be seen, If the opponent does not go away saluting his ego and power, the speed of the dance increases. So many times the peacocks do this opposition against its mother or siblings.
ATTACK DANCE:
In its dance and dining territory, if another peacock or a small bird or any other creature enters, it starts dancing in a very angry mood showing anxiety to attack and to force them to go away. At this time it opens its feathers very fast and try to show its attack with its beak open.
WEATHER DANCE:
June to August is the lactation period for the peacock. During this period peacock starts dancing in the morning and evening. This dance is performed with less effort and slowly, so this dance lasts long. Seeing one peacock dancing, the nearby peacock also joins it for company . The group dance because of the company, is done in a very low and slow speed, but according to the situation it changes in love dance, attack dance and ego dance.
FEAR DANCE:
In the event of a sudden attack from the fellow peacocks and if no solution is possible, the peacock makes the shelter of tale feathers very high and attacks doing the dance with full energy. The enemy is frightened to see the peacock in this violent position and cannot attack. Taking benefit of this action, the peacock runs away saving itself. The female peacock also does this type of dance. (hifi)
