The walls of the school had become colorless; plaster was peeling off from everywhere; the roof of the building had become so dilapidated that children were reluctant to sit down, and the biggest irony was that the number of children in the school was continuously decreasing every year, as if the school was on the verge of closure. A similar horrifying scene was in the Government Primary School of village Kothe Inder Singh Wala in District Bhatinda, Punjab.
But when Master Rajendra Singh Insan, with the passion of social service in his heart, joined this school as a teacher 9 years ago, the condition of this place changed in no time. His hard work surprised everyone when parents from 16 villages came to this school to get their children admitted to this school by withdrawing them from private schools. This is the reason why this school has set a record at the entire Punjab level by increasing the number of new admissions by 627 percent in just a few years.
The reward for this hard work of Master Rajendra Singh Insan was received in the form of the National Teachers’ Award, which was given to him by the Honourable President of the country Draupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi for this excellent work. When Master Rajendra Singh Insan’s name was called in the auditorium for rendering praiseworthy work in the field of education, the entire pandal reverberated with the sound of applause. This moment was also unique from the point of view of Dera Sacha Sauda, following the holy inspirations of Revered Guru Saint Dr. MSG, teacher Rajendra Singh Insan reached this position and set an example of social service by bringing glory to the name of Punjab across the country.
Teacher Rajendra Singh Insan originally hails from Goniana Mandi district Bathinda (Punjab). During his 20 years of service, he has transformed four government dilapidated schools so far. Presently, he is serving in the Government Primary School of Kotha Inder Singh Wala. He joined this school in the year 2015. At that time the condition of the school was very bad. But due to the dedication and hard work of teacher Rajendra Singh Insan, today this school has become one of the leading schools in the entire state in education, health, beauty and discipline.
Teacher Rajendra Singh has received 9 state awards so far. This honor has been given to him for making a dilapidated school smart without any government grant, setting admission record twice at Punjab level, preparing TV programs for Doordarshan as a way to spread online education during Covid-19, anchoring the Nanhe Ustad Bal program, teaching his children in a government school, starting smart education for students, providing English medium facilities to the students at the primary level, organizing summer camps during holidays and participating in state level primary school sports. In the year 2020, Rajendra Singh was honored with the State Award by the Education Department of Punjab for securing the first rank in the whole of Punjab due to his outstanding teaching services.
