Residing in Jaipur, this family is known as Atal family, this family has a special tricolor. Although this tricolor, too, has three strips of red, green and white colors with Ashoka Circle at the centre but even then this tricolor has got something special on its own. A story of bravery is attached to this tricolor. This is a  an example of bravery and  true patriotism.

It was in 1971 when India and Pakistan were at war with each other. At that time Jai Kumar Atal of Jaipur was serving in Pakistan as the High Commissioner of India. It is known to one and all that in this war, Pakistan was defeated very badly. Pakistan was fully frustrated at its defeat and in this frustration, some Pakistani tried to burn the tricolor. When Jai Kumar Atal saw this,  by giving the example of his extraordinary bravery, he snatched the tricolor from the Pakistani and came to India.

When he reached India with the tricolor,  first of all he met the then Prime Minister of India Ms. Indira Gandhi and wanted to hand over the tricolor to her. But she returned the tricolor to Jai Kumar saying that since he had protected the pride of the tricolor, therefore, from that day onwards, the tricolor world remain with your family and at the same time, on the occasion of Independence Day and the Republic Day, it will be unfurled by his family. Ever since then, in the family of Atal, both the Independence Day and the Republic Day are celebrated like a grand festival in which all the family members whether they stay out of Jaipur, unfurl the tricolor, together.
